Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions regarding setup, permissions, file saving, and privacy.

How do I grant Screen Recording permissions?

macOS requires explicit user consent for any application to capture screen content. Quick Screen Cropper uses this permission solely to let you select and crop portions of your active display.

Follow these steps to enable Screen Recording:

  1. Open System Settings ( Apple menu > System Settings).
  2. In the sidebar, navigate to Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down and select Screen & System Audio Recording (or Screen Recording on older macOS versions).
  4. Find Quick Screen Cropper in the list and switch the toggle to On.
  5. If prompted by macOS, restart the application so the newly granted permissions take effect immediately.
Where are my captured screenshots saved?

You have full flexibility over where your screen captures go:

  • System Clipboard (Default): As soon as you complete a crop, the image is automatically copied to your clipboard so you can immediately paste it (⌘V) into Slack, Mail, Messages, or any document.
  • Save As Dialog (⌘S): Press ⌘S to bring up the macOS Save dialog and select any directory or filename on your Mac.
  • Quick Save Folder: In the app Settings, you can designate a custom default destination folder (e.g., ~/Pictures/Screenshots or ~/Desktop) for seamless one-click saving without prompts.
Does the app collect or upload my screen captures?

No, absolutely not. Quick Screen Cropper is built on strict zero-telemetry and offline-first principles:

  • 100% Offline: The application contains no network communication code, analytics SDKs, or cloud synchronization.
  • Zero Tracking: We do not collect identifiers, telemetry, usage statistics, or user behavior.
  • Local Processing: All image cropping, drawing annotations, and file exports remain strictly on your Mac's local memory and disk.
